Lomond
The largest surface area of fresh water Loch in the UK. And as you
would expect with its size it holds possibly the largest variety
of fish in Scotland. This ideal habitat provides great sport for
the angler. Salmon and sea trout return up the River Leven into
the Southern reaches of the loch, whilst brown and rainbow trout,
pike, perch, roach, chub and dace offer variety for every angler.

Game Fishing
Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association
Membership of the Association allows that member to fish Loch Lomond,
River Fruin, River Leven leased parts of the River Endrick and parts
of the Gairloch.

There is now a permit for COARSE fishing prices is £2.50
per day or £25.00 per season (All money raised going to fishery
trust for scientific work related to fishery etc)
Game fishing prices are: £15.00 per day. £40.00 per
week
Season permits are £160.00 plus a one off joining fee of £25.00
An entrance fee of £25 if over 21yrs of age and £12.50
if under 21yrs of age is payable on the first year of membership.
The annual fee is £132 if over 21yrs £44 if under 21yrs.

- Salmon from 11th February to 31st October
- Sea Trout from 1st April to 31st October
- Brown Trout from 15th March to 6th October
- A permit is required for all game fishing
- Legal methods of fishing Fly / Spin / Bait (inc.shrimp)
- Sunday fishing is not permitted
Lures and Flies
Some tried and tested lures and flies for the visitor. Trolled lures
do well in the early part of the season worth trying are Abu Toby,
Kynoch Killer and Rapala lures sized 18 to 20gram. As the season
progresses into the warmer weather a team of flies from a drifting
boat give good sport, patterns worth a try are Mallard and yellow,
Invicta and big Daddy Longlegs.
Pike Fishing
Loch Lomond is deemed one of the best locations for pike fishing
by the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain.

Dead bait fishing only
Other Coarse Fishing
Other species to be found within the Loch are Perch, Roach, Ruffe.
Dace and Powan. The Ruffe which is not a native species is thought
to have been introduced by means of live baiting for pike they are
an unwelcome visitor having a large appetite for other fishes eggs
first found within the Loch in 1982 they are now the most common fish
within the Loch. No permit required
